Update

Well, I resubmitted my thesis at the end of September and my viva is set for 21 Jan 2015.

Thought

I think I am just going to re-submit the damn thing when I get back from holiday in September.

Supervision

Had supervision meeting yesterday, receiving feedback on re-written Chapter 1.

Also got change of thesis title approved and it is now 'Explaining EU engagement with potential new member states'.

Re-registered

Finally have got re-registered with the university. Everything just takes so long with any dealings with the uni admin, and I am just so tired of it.

Re-registering etc.

Got the letter today from the university re the outcome of my viva on 30 Jan. No surprises in there, just says that I need to re-register on continuation status (£250) and that my final deadline for re-submission is 11 May 2015, so they are giving me more than a year. That doesn't mean I have to take that long of course, and I hope not.

Blah

Had supervision meeting a few weeks ago. Their reading of the examiners reports is that the whole focus of the topic needs to change, for various reasons that are too tedious to explain. So basically, instead of being about 'EU democracy promotion' it looks like it will end up being about 'EU engagement with potential new member states', or something like that. I don't really mind, and I've done lots of work in Feb and March. So, that's just an update for now.

Supervision meeting

Have got a meeting with my supervisors arranged for 11 March.

New version of thesis

I have done so much work in the last two weeks. Suffice to say, the new version of my thesis is going to be a lot, lot better.

Viva

The viva was brutal. I didn't pass but instead I have to 'revise and resubmit'.

Not pleasant, but I am already working on how to rework it. A major rethink and rewrite.

Preparing for viva

One week til my viva. I have had a phone session with my supervisors about it, and I have been re-reading my thesis and rehearsing answers to typical questions. Also using 'How to survive your viva' by Rowena Murray.
